Emily Hostland
BA, MA, DTATI (cand.), RP
Registered Psychotherapist and Expressive Arts Therapist
I am committed to supporting people discover their capacity for change and to build a meaningful and enjoyable life. My role is to help guide you to find what works and what’s helpful. I can offer support in getting to yourself better; developing a deeper, more compassionate relationship with yourself and others; healing from traumatic experiences; and working with difficult emotions such as depression, stress, anxiety and hopelessness. I aim to offer a nonjudgmental, open space where you can share and explore thoughts and ideas. I will listen and help you hold what is too difficult to hold on your own.
I incorporate a variety of approaches including Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic practices, existentialism, neuroscience, polyvagal theory, and expressive arts therapy. I have experience supporting survivors of trauma, people with substance use concerns, and individuals navigating grief and bereavement after a loss or a transition. I am honoured to provide an identity affirming space for members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. I believe that a compassion-focused, culturally humble, trauma-informed and anti-oppressive approach is essential for safe and effective therapy. I value being in relationship and I believe that is where transformation and healing are rooted. I look forward to partnering with you as you move towards healing and meaning.
