Sometimes children and teens don't have the words for what they're going through—and sometimes they simply don't want to sit across from an adult and talk about it. That's where creativity, play, imagery and story can offer another way to connect.

I am a master's-trained Art Therapist with an MA in Creative Arts Therapies, specializing in Art Therapy, and 10 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults and families. Much of my work has involved counselling children and youth through Victim Services and other community organizations, including young people who have experienced trauma, witnessed domestic violence, navigated major family changes, or found it difficult to express what they are feeling. I have also worked extensively with women who are survivors of intimate partner violence.

In our sessions, we can talk—but talking doesn't have to be the only option. Depending on your or your child's interests and needs, I may incorporate drawing, painting, sculpting, sand tray, therapeutic play, storytelling, drama, imagery or guided drawing. You don't need to be "good at art." The focus is never on artistic technique or creating a polished product, but on curiosity, expression and what we may discover through the creative process. I often think of the creative work as a helpful third presence in the room—something we can become curious about together without all of the attention being focused directly on you.

My approach is warm, playful, non-judgmental and strengths-based, and is informed by developmental, psychodynamic, trauma-informed and anti-oppressive perspectives. I value collaborating with parents and caregivers while also creating a space where children and teens can develop trust, choice and a sense that their own voice matters.

I also welcome adults—particularly women, trauma survivors and anyone drawn to a more creative form of counselling. I offer both in-person and virtual counselling, and together we can find an approach that feels comfortable and meaningful for you or your child.
